3rd phase of Vision 2021 Internship kicks off January 2018

Young Bangla and its secretariat Centre for Research and Information (CRI) is all set to launch the 3rd phase of the Vision 2021 Internship program in January 2018 for all members and volunteers. This time around, internship, training and employment opportunities will be offered in the following areas:

  • Tourism and Hospitality Management
  • Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources
  • Ministry of Foreign Affairs

All these trainings are absolutely free of cost for all Young Bangla members. Vision 2021 Internship is the first ever public-private partnership program in Bangladesh.

 

Tourism and Hospitality Management: Round 1

In 2018, the opportunity will be provided in two rounds. In the first round, a total of 50 young men and women aged between 18-30 years will be provided training in the following areas:

  • Food and Beverage Production (cooking)
  • Food and Beverage Service
  • Housekeeping

This 4-month training will be provided at the Unique Professional Development Academy for Training and Education (UPDATE) at Panthapath, Dhaka from January-April. This academy is run by UNIQUE GROUP that operates WESTIN, one of the biggest 5-star hotels in Bangladesh. The training will be given under the Supporting Education and Skills Development Investment Programs (SESIP) of the Swiss-funded non-governmental organization Skills for Employment Investment Program (SEIP). The Bangladesh government, the Asian Development Bank, SEIP and some other private partners are providing the fund for this training.

Other details about this program:

  • There will be job opportunities in the hotel and hospitality industry for better performers.
  • Trainees with 100% attendance will be given BDT 10,400 stipend.
  • Trainees will be given two sets of uniforms for training.
  • Minimum educational requirement is SSC.
  • Age limit: 18-30 years
  • Training will be given 5 days a week in 2 shifts: 9am-2pm and 2:30pm-7:30pm.
  • Participants will be given certificates at the end of the training.
  • Women, disabled and indigenous persons will be prioritized.

During the first two months of the program, participants will be given hands on training. During the next two months, they will have valuable industrial exposure in the form of internship with reputed hotels, restaurants, etc.

 

Tourism and Hospitality Management: Round 2

The second round of training, internship and employment in this area is scheduled to begin in February 2018 and it will be provided by Underprivileged Children’s Educational Programs (UCEP). The training will be given at the UCEP technical school at Mirpur-2, Dhaka. The particulars of the second phase of this training and employment program will be the same as the first round. This will also be fully free for the members of Young Bangla. The details of this round will be communicated via the Facebook page and website of Young Bangla.

 

Ministry of Power Energy and Mineral Resources

Young Bangla, in partnership with the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources (MoPEMR) is offering internship opportunity under the Vision 2021 Internship program for the second time. Starting January 2018, the internship opportunities will be provided in three phases:

Phase 1: January-April 2018

Phase 2: May-August 2018

Phase 3: September-December 2018

A total of 500 fresh university graduates will be able to avail the opportunity to do internships with the 39 utility service providers under the Power Cell and the Energy and Power Division in the three above-mentioned phases. Young Bangla is now inviting applications from qualified and competent university graduates who will get a chance to gain first-hand experience by working in different divisions and departments under the ministry. This program too is absolutely free of cost for all Young Bangla members.

In the first phase of this internship program under the MoPEMR in 2016-17, a total of 104 young men and women from different corners of the country, all of whom were Young Bangla members, gained valuable experience.

 

Ministry of Foreign Affairs

For the second time, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) is offering the unique internship opportunity for Young Bangla members. Under the Vision 2021 Internship program of Young Bangla, a total of 4 qualified university graduates will get the opportunity to do internship with MoFA.  During this 4-month program starting February, the Young Bangla members will be able gain invaluable exposure by working with the various departments and offices under the ministry. In 2016, four other Young Bangla members took similar internship opportunity with the ministry.
