Chapter 2 of ‘Student to Startup’ project begin in 15th September with an inauguration and coordination event hosted by Young Bangla’ and Country’s biggest Innovation Platform ‘Innovation Design and Entrepreneurship Academy (IDEA)’ Project under the ICT Division.
IDEA project bearing the flagship of ‘Startup Bangladesh’ introduced in 2016 under ICT Division. In 2018, this project joined hands with the country’s largest youth network ‘Young Bangla’ under intense supervision of Center for Research & Information (CRI). In last two or three years’ iDEA project managed to get 580 pitching applications while within two months more than 2200 Startup Ideas submitted to be a part of the government platform.
In the inauguration event State Minister for ICT Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak shared governments vision of promoting youth in entrepreneurship to make them self-reliant and enabling them.
Young Bangla Campus Ambassador are hosting the pitching in 100 selected campuses around the country with the motto “My innovation, My Dream”.
The specialty of this year is that the students of schools, colleges, madrasas, universities and any educational institution will be able to participate. A team is built comprised of 1-3 members. One condition applied this time is, one team must have at least one Bangladeshi of 18+ years old.
The whole Chapter consists three major parts. These are,
Campus Phase: There will be offline promotion in 100 campuses. For campus pitching, judges from Dhaka will go to 25 districts of five divisions of the country. Students will be able to pitch their ideas by registering in any of the 25 venues. For each venue 3 projects will be selected in average and it is expected that, total of 75 teams will be attending the national startup camp 2.0.
National Startup Camp 2.0: Three days, Four nights’ residential camp at Savar. The camp will arrange single day training/workshop and mentoring for top 75 startup ideas. After that, two-day long pitching will be held to finalize top 30 winners.
Final Stage: Top 30 teams will pitch in front of the selection committee of IDEA project. Top 10 startups will receive Pre-seed fund of 10 lacs BDT in phase by phase in total of 1 crore BDT. Twenty-three runners-up teams will have the opportunity to pitch for re-funding after special grooming.
Answers to some common queries on Student to Startup:
A team will get 2 minutes to pitch. The pitch will be oral, with no slide, in Bengali or English or both. But if there is a prototype or demo or branding material, that must be brought.
The campus pitch program will be held in each venue for a day. So participant have to maintain timing to attend the event.
Before starting the pitch, judges will tell all the participants what to say on the pitch.
