Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) led the “Mass-Masking Campaign” to encourage people to wear masks properly in partnership with Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA), Yale University, Stanford Medical School, Young Bangla, Shakti Foundation for Disadvantaged Women, BRAC Institute of Governance and Development (BIGD), and BD Clean.
Primarily, the Shakti Foundation requested us to provide 50 volunteers. The Young Bangla network (Bloodman Health Care, Youth Environment and Social Development Society (YESDS), Travelettes of Bangladesh, Bangladesh Wheelchair Sports Association and Ignite Foundation) communicated with every volunteer before enlisting them. We shared a list of 50 volunteers with Shakti Foundation.
21 volunteers from the Young Bangla Network participated in the campaign. Young Bangla Network volunteers approached people in 7 different hot spots (Gabtoli Bus Terminal, Mohammadpur-Townhall, Farmgate, Badda-Notun Bazar, Bashundhara City shopping mall, Uttara-Rajlokkhi and Mohakhali Bus Stand. They politely encouraged people to wear masks. The “Mass Masking Campaign” was based on a model called NORM (NORMalize mask-wearing model).
