“Joy Bangla Youth Award” is a flagship initiative of Young Bangla to recognize and connect the young change-makers of Bangladesh. The application submission for the sixth Joy Bangla Youth Award (JBYA 2022) will start on July 20 and wrap up on 31 August.

Young Bangla has set 12 categories for the Joy Bangla Youth Award 2022. Youth organizations can apply under ‘women empowerment, ‘child rights’, ‘empowering the people with disabilities, ‘empowering vulnerable people’, ‘employment and innovation’, ‘creativity and recreation’, ‘knowledge and capacity development, ‘empowering extreme poor’, ‘environment and climate change activity, ‘health care and awareness’, and ‘sociocultural initiatives’ categories. It also encourages university-based clubs working for the youth community within the university through community service, campaigns, and activities to apply for this award.

Applicant organizations will undergo a rigorous selection process consisting of tests, visits, and jury evaluations. The award-giving ceremony and winners’ declaration is expected to be held in November 2022.

Young Bangla launched the Joy Bangla Youth Award in 2015 with a vision to recognize youth-led exemplary work and initiatives in social transformations and community development across the country. So far, Young Bangla has hosted the award in 2015, 2017, 2018, 2020, and 2021.

Through last year’s award, Young Bangla celebrated Bangladesh’s golden jubilee and Mujib’s birth centenary. The ceremony was held on 20 December 2021 while strictly maintaining covid-19 health measures. That year, Young Bangla introduced “Pathfinder of 50”, special recognition for individuals/initiatives who have made significant contributions to the post-independence nation-building process through leadership, service, initiatives, and research. Young Bangla conferred the Joy Bangla Youth Award (JBYA) 2021 to 15 youth-led organizations for their contributions to society and the country.
