Joy Bangla Youth Award
Joy Bangla Youth Award (JBYA) was launched in 2015 with the vision to recognize the youth-led exemplary work in social transformation and community development, across the country. Youth-led organizations from across Bangladesh submit their community development stories, and Young Bangla selects the awardees through a rigorous selection process.
Joy Bangla Youth Award 2020
We had many expectations and plans for Joy Bangla Youth Award 2020 to fully celebrate MUJIB YEAR on the auspicious occasion of the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. However, this year’s process is different from the previous years due to the COVID 19 pandemic hence the award is being organized on the VIRTUAL PLATFORM.
Online registration of the Joy Bangla Youth Award 2020 began on September 25, 2020; which continued till October 15, 2020. Over 600 youth organizations committed and volunteered to bring positive change in society have applied for the ‘Joy Bangla Youth Award 2020’ under two broad areas – Social Inclusion and Integrated Community Development. Later, the Young Bangla team primarily shortlisted 103 applications and conducted another round of evaluation process to finalize the top 50 organizations through various levels of scrutiny and interviews. Young Bangla also formed a jury board to complete the final evaluation which recommended the top 30 organizations out of 50 for the Joy Bangla Youth Award 2020.
The virtual award-giving ceremony of the Joy Bangla Youth Award 2020 held on November 17, 2020, where Sajeeb Wazed, ICT Adviser to the Prime Minister of Bangladesh declared the top 30 youth-led organizations’ names.
Joy Bangla Youth Award 2018
The third edition of the Joy Bangla Youth Award (JBYA) was in 2018. During the call for application, 36 multi-stakeholder meetings, 144 Upazilas (sub-district) level activations and 20 campus activations were conducted. Thereafter, Young Bangla received 2500 applications from different youth-led organizations in Bangladesh. Young Bangla followed a rigorous assessment process to select the final 50 awardees for JBYA 2018. More than 350 stories of Joy Bangla Youth Award Winners were highlighted by various media outlets.
Joy Bangla Youth Award 2017
The second edition of the Joy Bangla Youth Award was in 2017. More than 1,300 organizations applied through an online application. A total of 102 organizations from all over Bangladesh were shortlisted, following which, the Young Bangla team conducted field visits to review and evaluate the activities of each organization. After the field visits, the team finalized the top 50 applications. A jury panel consisting of the Members of Parliament, bureaucrats, civil society leaders, businesspersons, and media professionals, selected the final 30 winners.
Joy Bangla Youth Award 2015
Young Bangla organized the first edition of the Joy Bangla Youth Award in 2015. During the application process, it conducted eight consultations meetings in eight divisions of Bangladesh. More than 1500 applicants submitted their stories in the first edition, from where Young Bangla shortlisted 200 primarily. Finally, 30 applicants were selected for the Joy Bangla Youth award for their outstanding efforts and contributions at the community level in areas such as promoting youth employability, ending violence against women, education, and cultural activities. Sajeeb Wazed, the ICT Adviser to the Honorable Prime Minister of Bangladesh and CRI Chairperson, handed over the awards to the winners at a ceremony at the Krishibid Institution in Dhaka in May 2015.
