When a girl takes after school classes and see many underprivileged children being deprived from the basic needs it urges her inner feeling to take some steps for these children. Reshma Jannatul Ruma is one of those girls who had these urges when she saw some deprived children was watching their teacher from outside their class window and they got scolded by the same teacher for standing there. From that day she relates her feelings to Meena cartoon were Meena work for the betterment of her village. Another incident that lead her to take the initiatives for community development is while celebrating her friend’s birthday when some street children were steering at the cake, and when they noticed it and offered them they accepted the offer for having the cake and said that it was their first time, they used to see the cake from the glass window.
For starting her Icche Puron Pathshala Reshma has faced many obstacles. When she started her school for the underprivileged children in Railway station some local leaders didn’t let her continue her work, then with the help of local council and a Journalist they had been able to resume their school. Not only these they had been disturbed by many drug addicted people who roam around railway station. As she was the female initiator of this foundation she has face other hindrance also.
Reshma Jannatul Ruma has received JBYA 2017 for her phenomenal contribution on the community development for providing free education to the underprivileged children. After receiving the award Reshma and her organization has been able to expand their work because they have been recognized many government and non-government organization and also got financial assistance for their activities. Icche Puron Shamajiki Shonghothon is now more active and they don’t only work on education but also on providing training on children and human rights, health, and child marriage.
