The Covid-19 pandemic indeed left its impact, but it also created powerful bonding between the communities of Bangladesh. When people were fighting for their lives, they were also fighting with job loss and financial instability. Observing the circumstances, three friends from different professions formed an organization to contribute their skills, and industry network to work on behalf of the people. Md. Tajdin Hassan, Imran Kadir, and Adnan Imtiaz Halim together founded Mission Save Bangladesh (MSB) in 2020, at the beginning of the covid-19 pandemic, coming from three organizations, Sheba XYZ, The Daily Star, and The Daily Samakal. The Covid-response team started to collect funds and donations from its network and quickly got massive responses from different organizations and individuals. One hundred and twenty organizations came forward with funds and medical support. MSB strategically planned the fund distribution among thirteen thousand families and sixty thousand individuals. To help with the burial of dead bodies, it provided free ambulance service. The organization also helped patients with food in different hospitals. In terms of awareness generation, MSB built sixteen handwashing stations all over the city and social distancing promotional materials in one hundred and seventy shops. Its greatest contribution was reflected among many other volunteers and donors. The contribution was featured in international media such as The Washington Post, Yahoo News, and AP News. It even won a WAN-IFRA Gold award in Best Special Project for the Covid-19 category. To create a sustainable future for the organization under a formal NGO structure and executive body, MSB is now focused on four core pillars: food safety, health, economic empowerment, and youth development. At present, it conducts the activities through three projects- ‘Uchchasher Eid’, ‘Khushir Bhaag Shobai Paak’, and ‘MSB Rise’. Imran Kadir, the General Secretary of MSB shares, “We at MSB had a very humble beginning. But it is the faith of the people and our enthusiastic partners who made us believe that we are on the right track. We aim to stand beside hardworking people and enable them to be the best versions of themselves. ‘Empowering Citizens. Elevating Communities’ – is our motto at Mission Save Bangladesh.”
