Nabiganj upazila occupies 440 square kilometers of land in Habiganj district. Although this Upazila of about 2.5 lakh population gets first class upazila status in the pen, there is a real lag in the real sense. Most of the people are living under the poverty line and illiteracy and prejudice, around the Upazila.
On January 15, 2016, Imtiaz Mohammad Papon with 30 potential young people of Nabiganj, started “Relation to People” to bring positive change in their Upazila. This organization set to stand beside the poor has been able to bring a lot of changes in the upazila in 2016 from Nabiganj Upazila.
This youth organization is playing a vital role in their community through their various initiatives like: distribution of winter clothes and foods among the poor people during winter and festivals, collection of money for the treatment of patients with helpless distant disorders, voluntary blood donation, anti-child marriage and dowry campaign, awareness on women education, creating alternative job opportunities for unemployed youth etc. To enhance the literacy rate and quality of education in Nabiganj, 15 young university students and volunteer of Relation to People are conducting free coaching program for the students of standard 5, 8, 9 and 10. Besides, Relation to People also provides free books and educational materials to poor students.
This organization has been working relentlessly to bring Nabiganj upazila back to its 1st-grade status. In 2018, Relation to people won Joy Bangla Youth Award in the category of community development for their outstanding performance in Nabiganj. 72 people volunteering of “Relation to People” dream of a new prospective Bangladesh.
